Robyn Stapleton’s voice is undeniably one of the finest in Scottish folk music. In 2014, she won the coveted title of BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year, and has quickly become one of Scotland’s most sought-after folk singers. She has performed with many prestigious ensembles, including the RSNO, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Scottish Ensemble, and her debut album, Fickle Fortune has received outstanding reviews.

One of the most respected interpreters of Burns’ song, Robyn has been invited to perform his most famous works on BBC television and radio, alongside Oscar-winning actors, and on legendary radio programme, Desert Island Discs. Her second album, Songs of Robert Burns (awaiting release in January 2017) explores the themes of history, humanity, love and nature, through the poetry of Scotland’s national poet. A dynamic soundscape, created by the 9-strong ensemble, displays influence from classical, jazz and folk music, and echoes the sensitivity and raw emotion of his Burns’ works.  Featuring on the album, world class musicians – Patsy Reid (fiddle, viola), Aaron Jones (bouzouki), Alistair Paterson (piano, harmonium), Signy Jacobsdottir (percussion) and Innes White (guitar, mandolin) – bring new life to his best-loved songs. Completing the ensemble, four of Scotland’s finest string players will bring a powerful and evocative dimension to these iconic songs.
